Emily Caron
My journey into birth work began in 2016 while I was pregnant with my first son. As I prepared to welcome him into the world, I discovered just how powerful education, support, and trust in the body can be during pregnancy and birth. That experience ignited a deep passion for supporting women and families during one of the most transformative times in their lives, and it ultimately led me to become a birth doula.
Today, I am a certified birth doula with DONA International and have had the honour of supporting over 150+ births. Each birth has reinforced what I believe at my core: that when women are supported, informed, and respected, birth can be an incredibly empowering experience.
My approach to birth is holistic and deeply individualized. I believe every family deserves compassionate care, evidence-based information, and unwavering support as they navigate pregnancy, labour, and the early postpartum period. I have supported families through hospital births, home births, and VBACs, and I meet each client where they are—without judgment—helping them make the decisions that feel right for them.
As both a mother of three and a doula, I understand the physical, emotional, and transformative journey of bringing a baby into the world. My role is to ensure families feel supported, confident, and empowered every step of the way.
In addition to my doula training, I have completed further education in birth and postpartum care, including:
Certified Birth Doula – DONA International
Certified Postpartum Doula- DONA International
Member – Association of Ontario Doulas
Red Cross Emergency First Responder (Infant & Child CPR + First Aid)
Basics of Lactation Management
Lactation for Doulas Workshop – Ann Grauer
Postpartum Mood Disorders Training – DONA International
Whether you are planning a hospital birth, home birth, VBAC, or are simply seeking more guidance and support, my goal is to help you feel informed, prepared, and deeply supported as you welcome your baby.
My name is Andrea Atkinson and I am a Registered Nurse who was born and raised in Chatham-Kent. Over the past 15 years, my nursing career has been fairly diverse. I have worked in acute care, long-term care, home care, telemedicine and now in primary care, and I have lived in Canada, Ireland and Australia during this time as well. I have a passion for patient education, patient-centered care and advocacy for interprofessional care. I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Science in Nursing program (MScN) at Western University. My thesis work will focus on understanding the experience of postpartum education from the perspective of nurses and mothers.
I am married to an Australian and have 2 daughters. My second daughter was born in March 2020 and my second maternity leave was very different from the first. The impact of COVID was difficult in terms of social isolation, and it became glaringly obvious to me that women, while cared for very closely during pregnancy, are essentially “forgotten” in the postpartum period. I have since developed a passion for educating and supporting women in the postpartum period and really embrace the important concept of re-establishing the “village” for women and their families. I am thankful to live in Chatham-Kent as I believe this is a beautiful and supportive community – a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Hi, I’m Lisa Uher! I started Mother Nurture Childbirth Support Services 20 years ago based on a passion for working with women at such an amazing and life changing time in their lives. I have now had the honor of assisting over 300 babies coming into the world as a Doula and am still in awe of the strength of women and the beauty of babies taking in their first breath of life! Mother Nurture has grown over the years from providing labor support to women to our childbirth class component and now also offers Prenatal Yoga as well as baby massage classes. I am able to pass on this passion and excitement to the many new families who attend these classes, giving them the education and confidence to have a positive birth experience regardless of the path that birth may take.

Hello! I’m Lindsay Gregg. I was born and raised in Chatham and I am currently living here raising my own two children. My passion for birth began during my first pregnancy, where I became fascinated and curious about the power we possess as women to create life. I dove deep into learning about pregnancy, birth, and how to advocate for yourself, which led to a positive life changing experience after having my son. I knew that after that experience I wanted to help others feel as empowered as I did, I just didn’t know how yet. It wasn’t until the birth of my daughter that it became clear to me what I was meant to do. My second pregnancy was much harder and I knew I needed more support, so I decided to reach out for Doula (Emily Caron) support services. Emily was there for me emotionally, physically, and mentally throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum, which led to another positive birth experience. I felt so supported and my husband also appreciated having someone else there to support him as well. Just days after having my daughter a spark ignited in me to start looking into becoming a birth doula. I am currently a DONA trained Doula and working towards becoming fully certified. After attending my first birth as a doula, I knew right away that this was what I was meant to do and that I am incredibly passionate about birth and supporting other women to help them navigate through this life changing experience!
Hello! My name is Sasha Kivell, a doula in training currently completing my certification through DONA to become a fully certified birth doula. My passion for supporting families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum stems from both my training as well as my personal experiences growing up in a large family of nine.
Birth was always made a natural and meaningful part of life in my home, my mom was a doula herself for many years. I also had the special privilege to be present at two of her own home births. Those experiences deeply shaped my understanding of how beautiful, intimate and unique birth can be.
As a doula I will strive to provide compassionate, safe, evidence based support, so mothers will feel informed, confident, comfortable and understood.
